William Monroe Kimbrel, 71, of New Martinsville, formerly of Fairmont, passed away early Friday morning in Genesis Health Care in New Martinsville.
He was born Aug. 17, 1946, in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, son of the late John and Ethel Elza Kimbrel.
Bill was a Protestant by faith. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was retired from West Virginia University in the maintenance department, with 28 years of service. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed karaoke nights with friends and truly cared for his dog Rusty.
Survivors include a son and his wife, William Monroe and his wife Denise Kimbrel of Morgantown; three daughters and their husbands, Louella and Eric Nine of Dilliner, Pennsylvania, Karen and Alan Aronhalt of Morgantown, and Barbara and David Riggleman of Morgantown; 10 grandchildren, Brittany Kimbrel of Morgantown, Samantha Kimbrel of Morgantown, Caden Kimbrel of Morgantown, Tanner Hart of Morgantown, Tatum Hart of Morgantown, Emma Nine of Dilliner, Pennsylvania, Donnie Deavers of Morgantown, Ryan Gabler of Morgantown, Sabrina Gabler of Morgantown and Gabrielle Riggleman of Morgantown; two great-grandchildren, Mia and Maya Gabler; and two sisters, Barbara and her husband Clarence Carter of Morgantown and Linda Kimbrel of Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Rockford Kimbrel, and a sister, Marjorie Lancaster.
Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St. Fairmont. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastor Bill Toothman officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
