Vonda June Gump Pheasant was born June 13, 1938 and passed Jan. 9, 2018 at age 79 after a short battle with cancer.
In addition to her parents, Vonda is preceded in death by her husband, Lester "Diddy" Gump; her daughter, Nancy (Gump) Parker; her brothers, Herb Clelland, Albert Clelland, Bob Clelland and Pat Clelland and his wife Jean; and her second husband, John Pheasant.
Vonda is survived by her son, Timothy Gump and wife Sherry; her sister, Patricia Fordyce and husband Robert; granddaughters Katarina Gump, Segrid Knight and husband Jared, Maleena Coffman and husband Chad; great-grandchildren Cade Coffman and Elliena Knight; her son-in-law, Roger Parker; sisters-in-law, Doris Clelland, Shirley Clelland and Betty Clelland, and several nieces and nephews.
Vonda was a longtime resident of Fairview and member of Washington Street Church of Christ. She later attended Mt. Nebo Church of Christ and Pumpkin Center Church of Christ with her family. She worked for several years at Fairmont State College and as a Senior Aid at the Fairview Public Library. Among many other things, she will be remembered by her family for her potato salad, homemade pizza and "Vonda-isms."
At the wishes of the deceased and her family, there will be no public viewing. There will be a graveside service conducted by her son at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018 at the Fairview Cemetery where friends and family are invited to attend.
