Vivian Margaret Riley, 96, of Shinnston, passed away at the home of her daughter on Friday (Nov. 10, 2017) after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was the last surviving member of her family.
She was born in Fairmont, Sept. 22, 1921. Vivian was a loving mother and homemaker. She loved traveling, shopping and spending time with her family.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 70 years, Howard Riley; one son, Howard Clay "Dukie" Riley Jr.; and several brothers and sisters.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her loving daughter and caregiver, Nancy Basnett of Shinnston; three granddaughters, Kimberely Basnett of Clarksburg, Sherri Stout and husband Frankie of Mount Clare, and Kerri Basnett of Monongah; two great-granddaughters, Hali Hitt and husband Tyler of Hornor and Isabella Stout; two great-grandsons, Chad Anthony Rector and John Matthew Clutter; two great-great-granddaughters, Brynn and Chesnie Hitt; six nieces, Terri Sayre of North Carolina, Vivian Cramer of Texas, Joy Podolac and Cathy Kirkendall both of Ohio, and Stephanie Sharp and Levenia Swiger both of Shinnston; one nephew, Gene Riley of Fairmont; a special niece and nephew and loving caregivers, Mary and Tony Orsini of Monongah.
Family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with Pastor Gene Day officiating. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery in Shinnston.
