Virginia Josephine Iaquinta, 90, of Fairmont, passed away Monday (March 12, 2018) at the Tygart Center in Fairmont. She was born April 20, 1927 in Morgantown, daughter of the late Anthony and Angela Lorenzo Scotchel. Her beloved husband, Leonard Angelo Iaquinta, precedes her in death.
Virginia was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairmont and a lifetime member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary. She loved cooking for her family and her hobby was playing bingo. Virginia was a beloved mother and grandmother.
Virginia is survived by her children, Joseph Iaquinta and wife Angie of Fairmont, Mary I. Hank of Placida, Florida, and Linda Opas and husband Randy of Fairmont; two sisters, Yolanda Grula and Margaret Beavers of Florida; grandchildren, Jodi Iaquinta, Leonard Iaquinta, Chealsea Wierbonski, Justin Wierbonski, Jessep Opas, Anna Chapman (Josh), Leah Opas and Michael Iaquinta; and great-grandchildren, Nicolas Chapman, Quinna Chapman, Luke Chapman and Evelyn Opas.
In addition to her parents, Virginia is preceded in death by her brothers, Frank Scotchel, Fred Scotchel, John Scotchel, Louis Scotchel, Joseph Scotchel, Guy Scotchel, Art Scotchel, Anthony Scotchel; and sister, Mary Seccuro.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Tygart Center and Amedysis Hospice.
The family will receive friends from 1-7 p.m. on Thursday at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairmont with Father Jojan Joseph as celebrant.
