Thomas (Tom)'s Story
HAMPTON, Va. - Thomas (Tom) Robert Hite, Sr. passed away on July 1, 2017, at the age of 76, while doing one of his favorite things enjoying a round of golf with his youngest son in Murfreesboro, Tenessee.
Raised in Mannington, Tom graduated from Fairmont State University with a degree in business. He moved to Middle Tennessee in 1962 where he spent the majority of his career with Oscar Mayer in Goodlettsville, Tenessee, and then moved to Hampton, Virginia, where he ended his career happily delivering mail in Grafton, Virginia.
In his spare time he passed on his knowledge of hunting, fishing, handyman skills, cooking and golfing to his sons and other family and friends. He especially loved seeing and visiting his grandchildren and was very active in his local church. He leaves us all with many fond memories and his insider knowledge of our political system and elected officials and will be greatly missed by many.
Tom was preceded in rest by his father, Thomas A. Hite, Sr. and mother Jane C. Hite of Mannington. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Nancy; brother, John (Sheila) and sister, Susan. He leaves behind his three sons, Tom Jr. (Lisa), Greg (Christie) and George (Susan); five grandchildren: Thomas III (Crystal), Ben, Nick, Cassidy and Stephanie and three great grandchildren: Clover, Carlo and Madeline and nieces and nephews.
