Thelma's Story

Thelma Frances "Chink" Knight, age 88, of Mannington, passed away on Monday (Jan. 1, 2018) at her residence.
She was born July 28, 1929 at Mannington, a daughter of the late Ora Ray Toothman and Lena Lenora Robinson Toothman.
She is survived by four children, Wendell and Sally Knight of Mannington, Wanda and Rodney Blaney of Cross Junction, Virginia, Kelly and Debbie Knight of Mannington and Kip and Nancy Knight of Shinnston; nine grandchildren, Steve Knight, Randy Knight, Tammy Knight, Christy Kesner, Greg Blaney, Stefanie Waddell, TJ Knight and Wyatt Knight; and six great-grandchildren, Tyler Karlen, Gage Kesner, Kylie Kesner, Austin Waddell, Colin Waddell and Chase Knight.
In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Wayne Knight, who died June 16, 1985; a grandson, Scott Knight; two brothers, Darold Toothman and Virgil Toothman; and two sisters, Loretta Connors and Virginia Jones.
Thelma was a homemaker. She enjoyed working outside, mowing the yard and working in leaves. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
There will be no funeral home visitation or funeral services. Friends and family are asked to meet at 1 p.m. Thursday at the cemetery for a graveside service. Interment will be at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.
