Sharon Hope Warder, 70, of Fairmont, passed away suddenly Wednesday (March 29, 2017) at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born in Fairmont on April 25, 1946 daughter of the late Paul Martin and Helen Marie Haught Findley.
Sharon was a former Marion County school teacher. She graduated from Fairmont State College with a degree in art education and subsequently taught in both middle and elementary schools in Marion County for a number of years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Honorary Society (Alpha Epsilon chapter), Marion County Retired School Employees and Marion County Master Gardeners. She was a talented artist, gardener and enjoyed spending time with family.
She graduated from East Fairmont High School, Class of 1964. She served as head majorette for the band and was elected prom queen in 1963. The year after graduating, she was crowned Miss Fairmont and went on to be runner up in the Miss West Virginia Pageant.
Sharon is survived by her two sons, Christopher Trent Warder of Morgantown and Matthew Findley Warder and wife Liza of Annapolis, Maryland; and granddaughter Lula Francesca Rose Warder.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Francis Lucas Warder on Oct. 17, 2013.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today and from 1-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Ross Funeral Home 801 Fairmont Avenue Fairmont, West Virginia.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at The Baptist Temple 430 Morgantown Avenue Fairmont with Pastor Cyril Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
