Shane Robert Maynard, of Boca Raton, Florida, chose to go home to his heavenly father on Aug. 4, 2017, for much-needed and earned rest.
Shane leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving parents, Bob and Marlena Maynard of Alpine Lake, Terra Alta; his big brother, Chase Michael Maynard of Loxahatchee, Florida, who was Shane's best friend, protector and biggest fan. In addition, he is survived by his "Pops" and "Granny," Oran (Jim) and Mary Siers of Cross Lanes, and his "adopted" brother, Roy Zhang of China.
Shane was the proud owner of Versatility Basketball Academy, where he had two extremely loyal friends who supported and worked for him as he continued to build a successful nationally and internationally recognized program for the development of disciplined and multifaceted basketball players. Akeem Morissaint and Kameron Law are recognized as chosen family members and will forever be a part of "TEAM MAYNARD."
Shane leaves behind a host of family who will love and carry him in their hearts forever including uncles and aunts, Paul and Marilyn Maynard, Seth; Clyde and Pauline Stepp, Arnett; Shirley Maynard, Charleston; Phil and Judy Romano, Raleigh, North Carolina; Eric and Jamie Click, Cross Lanes; and many loving cousins and their families.
He is now celebrating a reunion with his beloved "Mawmaw," Lorene Maynard, and his special classmate and friend, Emma Alexandra Larson.
The Maynard family will greet all who loved Shane between noon-3 p.m. Saturday at the Woodrow Wilson High School auditorium in Beckley.
A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. and last until all friends can leave with peace and joy in their hearts.
