Samuel Neal Swihart Samuel Neal Swihart, 67, of Fairmont, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at Mon General Hospital. He was born on June 01, 1951, in Morgantown, a son of the late Luther Swihart and Darris Tallman Swihart.
After graduating University High School, Sam went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army, and later graduated from college with a business Degree from Laurel Business Institute and an Accounting Degree from Webster College. He worked for Custom Carpets as a carpet installer. He was also a construction worker by trade.
Sam will be remembered for his love of historical site seeing, and especially for spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Sam is survived by his wife, Linda Spencer Swihart, with whom he has been with for fifty years.
He is also survived by his son, Jason Swihart, of Pennsylvania; daughter, Tonya Swihart Carp, of Fairmont; as well as eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Sam was the last remaining sibling of his family. In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by siblings: Terry Swihart, Dave Swihart, Buck Swihart, Bill Swihart, Joe Swihart, Shirley Darnell, and Carolyn Swihart Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home to offset the funeral expenses.
Family and friends are welcome to call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont, on Wednesday, March 06, 2019 from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., with services beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Matt Holbert officiating.
