Samuel Richard Gilardi, 85, of Fairmont, died Saturday (Aug. 26, 2017) in the Genesis Healthcare Tygart Center, Fairmont.
He was born April 26, 1932 in Fairmont, a son of Theodore Gilardi and Letha K. Nixon Gilardi.
He is survived by two sons, Richard Gilardi and Mark Gilardi; a daughter, Deborah K. Gilardi; a step-son and his wife, John and Norma Watson; and many cousins.
Mr. Gilardi was a retired roof bolter for the CONSOL Coal Co. at the Shoemaker Mine, Benwood. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the West Virginia National Cemetery, Pruntytown. Full military honors will be held in the cemetery by the Military Veterans Council of Marion County.
