Sampson Lee "Boe" Hunter, 61, of Fairmont, passed away on Thursday (Sept. 7, 2017) at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Marion County, on July 4, 1956, a son of the late Edward E. and Beatrice G. (Burton) Hunter.
Boe was a painter by trade. He was an avid West Virginia University Mountaineer fan. Among his many interests, he enjoyed coin collecting, doing jigsaw puzzles, camping and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Brenda Boyce Hunter; a son, Alvin F. Boyce and his companion Dena Sawitski; two daughters, Kerry Jo Hunter of Florida and Samantha D. Boyce and her companion John Williams of Enterprise; eight grandchildren, James Kenneth Salmeri, Alexa Kay Boyce, Justin Keith Salmeri, Autumn Rae Sawitski, Jasmyn Alea Stillwell, Jadlyn Dawn Stillwell, Bryce Andrew Boyce and John Victor Williams II; a sister, Donna Lake and her husband Tom of White Hall; a sister-in-law, Arlene Hunter of Boothsville; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Amanda Louise Hunter; a brother, Edward E. Hunter Jr.; two sisters, Rocksie Haught and husband Donald and Frances Dingus and her husband Carl; two nieces, Mary Ann Haught and Donna Jean Haught; and a nephew, James "Jimmy" M. Wolfe.
Family and friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Monday and from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Brian Curry. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
