Rudolph "Rudy" Anthony Zaccagnini Sr., 90, passed away Tuesday (Dec. 9, 2018) at the John Manchin Sr. Assisted Living Center in Farmington. He was born in Fairmont on March 4, 1927, son of the late Antonio and Giacinta Rose (Cinalli) Zaccagnini of Bagnoli del Trigno, Abruzzo, Italy.
Rudy was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Marian Assembly, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lions Club and the Elks. He was a contractor for the North Central Builders Supply and owner of Ginger's Apparel. He was a graduate of Rivesville high School.
Rudy enjoyed ballroom dancing with the love of his life for 70 years, fishing, gardening, reading, playing cards and watching sports.
Rudy is survived by his wife Virginia "Ginger" Zaccagnini; three children, Rudolph Zaccagnini Jr. and fiancée Sandra, Larry Zaccagnini and wife Sharon, and Giacinta "Cindie" Sabaugh and husband Gary; three grandchildren, Cara Cervo, Christa Zuspan; and Asher Zaccagnini; an aunt, Julia Cinalli; and cousins, Danny Cinalli, Jimmy Cinalli, Mary Ann (Cinalli) Reed, JoAnn Knapton, Joe Yerrace, Agatha Cavrich, Bettina Calich and Julia DeMaro.
In addition to his parents, Rudy is preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jean Zaccagnini Romino.
The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12 at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home. The Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Marian Assembly #2114 will conduct a ritual service on Friday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Jan. 13, 2018 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairmont with Father Jojan Joseph officiating.
