Rose Mary Guzzo, 80, of Fairmont, passed away in Durham, North Carolina, on Sept. 20, 2017. She was born Sept. 9, 1937 in Fairmont, daughter of the late Francesco "Frank" and Lucy "Grace" Burnett Sermo.
She was a former employee of Westinghouse Corporation in the Seal Beam Department. She was active in TOPS and loved talking to friends and spending time with family. She enjoyed football, cooking, baking, and learning new things.
She lived her life with pride, grace, humor and love, which now shines through her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her constant generosity and strength. She had her own personal relationship with God that was quiet and powerful. She also had a curiosity with Native American culture since childhood.
Rose is survived by four children, John Guzzo (Marla) of Niwot, Colorado, Tina Marie Weinheimer (John) of Centerville, Virginia, Gina Savage (James) of Fairmont, and Denise Holliday (Vernon) of Durham, North Carolina; a brother, Frank Sermo (Mary JoAnn) of Fairmont; three sisters, Delores Mazzo of Nutter Fort, Vicki Audia of Waynesboro, Virginia, and JoAnn Sainer of Alliance, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Jordan and Kiara Guzzo, Phillip and Tony Weinheimer, Amanda Savage, Rachel (Ryan) Cratch, Sarah Albright, and Desiree Albright; one great-grandchild, Ryder Cratch; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Rose is preceded in death by her husband, Antonio "Tony" Guzzo.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Monday and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at the Holy Cross Mausoleum.
