Ronald Lee Butler, 85, of Fairmont, passed away at his home Sept. 6, 2018. He was born on Sept. 25, 1932, in Paxton, Clay County, the son of the late Lemon Butler and Florence Adkins.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country in Germany.
Ronald is survived by daughters, Mitzi Butler, of Morgantown, and Merlene Shoemaker and husband William, of West Virginia; and son, Brian Butler, of West Virginia.
Ronald is also survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Marsha (Robinson) Butler, and their daughters: Sheila Campbell, of Mannington, and Michelle Reed, of Grafton, as well as many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joann Hauten Butler, and three of their children: William Frazer, Robert Butler and Brooks Butler.
He was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Christopher and Wayne Shoemaker; and two brothers, Donald Deans and Freeman Miller.
The family would like to thank West Virginia Caring and Tom Dunn for their kindness and support.
Family and friends may call from 9 a.m.-noon Tuesday at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont. Services take place at noon with Reverend Janet Flanagan officiating. Interment will follow at WV National Cemetery, with Full Military Honors provided by the Marion County Veteran's Honor Council and the United States Army Reserves at Camp Dawson.
