Robert "Bob" Henry Stemple, 82, of Fairmont, Pleasant Valley Community, passed away Wednesday (July 19, 2017) at his home.
He was born in Fairmont, on June 6, 1935, a son of the late Russell Stemple and Louise (Spencer) Stemple.
Robert graduated from East Fairmont High School. He was retired from the U.S. Army National Guard and Reserves after 28 years of service. In addition, he retired from Westinghouse/North American Philips after 34 years as a machinist. Bob was a member of the Viola Church. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and gardening in his spare time.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara (Freeland) Stemple; his son, Robert C. Stemple of Virginia Beach, Virginia; his daughter, Diana Blosser and her husband Rick of Fairmont; five very special grandchildren, Kyle Blosser, Zack Blosser, Autumn Stemple, Trey Stemple and Ceara Stemple; and a great-granddaughter, Aubrie Bay Stemple.
Mr. Stemple's family would like to thank West Virginia Caring Hospice and the Fairmont Dialysis Clinic for their care and comfort during his illness.
Friends and family may call from 1-8 p.m. Friday and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Scott Krepps officiating. Interment services will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Full military honors conducted by the Marion County Veterans Council Honor Guard at the cemetery.
