Robert Lewis Beatty Jr., 77, of Parker Run, Rivesville, passed away Wednesday afternoon in his residence.
He was born Sept. 14, 1939 in Marion County, son of the late Robert L. Sr. and Pearl Ellen Crescenzi Beatty.
Mr. Beatty was a Methodist by faith. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, with three years of service.
He was the owner and operator of B & B Builders and Contractors in Marion County, with 45 years of service. Robert enjoyed family activities, time with his grandchildren, boating, camping, viewing antique car shows, reading books and watching westerns.
Survivors include four sons, Robert L. Beatty III of Rivesville, Steven Ray Beatty of Rivesville, William Jeffrey Beatty and his wife Tara of Rivesville, and Brian Scott Beatty of Rivesville; six grandchildren, Robert Cody Beatty of Louisiana, Zachary Beatty of Rivesville, Cade Beatty of Rivesville, Colt Beatty of Rivesville, Cale Beatty of Rivesville, and Amber Rose of Morgantown; two sisters, Janice Hardesty of Rivesville, and Sharon Beatty Maier of Fairmont, who gave many hours of care and concern; the children's mother, Barbara Beatty of Rivesville; two uncles, Arthur Cross of Fairmont, and John "Dub" Dublin of Fairmont; and many close nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Earl Beatty, and a sister, Rita Beatty.
Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, Jasper Street, Rivesville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home, with Reverend Stanley Merrifield officiating. A private burial will follow funeral services in the Heck's Cemetery on the Beatty farm.
