Richard E. Rick Minear, 66, of Fairmont, passed away at 11:15 a.m., Thursday (Aug. 25, 2016) at his residence. He was born in Parkersburg, Feb. 9, 1950, a son of William A. and Eleanor F. Melrose Minear. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Minear of Fairmont; one daughter, Alicia Ludy Gentle of Omaha, Nebraska; two stepdaughters, Melinda Godwin of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Veronica Bradshaw and her husband David of Benton, Arizona; one stepson, Scott Oldaker and his wife Julie of Fairmont; two granddaughters, Anna and Josie Gentle; eight step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, the Rev. Michael Minear and his wife Debby of Little Hocking Ohio, Jim Minear and his wife Karin of Ohio; sister, Judith Minear of Cleveland, Ohio, Bill Minear and his wife Beth of Charleston; one sister-in-law, Melinda Minear of Bay St. Louis, Missouri; his dog, Ricki; and countless friends and coworkers. He was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Julie Oldaker; and one brother, David Minear. Rick was employed as an optician for Wal-Mart for 21 years. He was a Vietnam veteran having served with the United States Army. Rick was a member of the VFW, Parkersburg and a Federal Firearms Licensee. Rick was an avid outdoorsman enjoying, hunting, fishing, boating, biking, and four wheeling. He spent his life making people laugh. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the celebration of life service at 11 a.m. today at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston. Full military rites will be accorded at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended to the family at The Perine Funeral Home is honored to serve the Minear family.
