Rev. Gail's Story

The Rev. Gail W. Carson Jr., 65, of Hundred, passed away suddenly on Monday (July 11, 2016) at the Sentara Regional Medical Center in Williamsburg, Virginia.
He was born June 2, 1951, in Clarksburg, a son of the late Gail W. Carson Sr. and Wilma Lee Jenkins Stout.
Gail is survived by his loving wife, the Rev. Elizabeth Moore Carson, whom he married Feb. 27, 1993.
Also surviving are his children, Scott Carson and wife Kathy of Weston, Jeremy Carson and wife Cortney of Bunker Hill, Christy Carson and Philip Carson both of Hundred; his grandchildren, Daniel, Brianne Kierston, and Hunter Carson, and Nicholas and Logan Carson; his siblings, Nathan Carson and wife Lyn of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Timmy Carson of Pennsylvania, Melody Burch and husband Robert of Buckhannon, Allen Stout and wife Donna of St. George and Kendall Stout and wife Suzie of Falling Waters; his father, Harry Stout of Fairmont; and his mother-in-law, Jo Moore of Pine Bluff; also surviving are many nieces and nephews as well as several friends.
Gail graduated from WI High School in 1969. He went to Marshall University on a football scholarship when a fractured hip kept him from being on the airplane that tragically crashed in 1970. He finished his bachelor's degree at Fairmont State. Gail then went on to graduate from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, where he attained his master's of divinity. In 1995, he became an ordained elder of the West Virginia Conference.
Being a Methodist minister, Gail pastored several churches in the West Virginia Annual Conference from which he retired in June of 2016 with 28 years in the ministry. He was the current pastor of the Friendly United Methodist Church.
Gail also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He was a fun-loving man and always loved to sing.
Friends will be received from 3-9 p.m. Friday at the Harmer Funeral Home, 300 Pike St. Shinnston. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Pine Bluff United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Pine Bluff Cemetery.
