Randy Loyd Helms, 56, of Bunner Ridge Community, passed away Feb. 15, 2017, at his home.
He was born Jan. 28, 1961, the son of the late Frank William and Patricia Ann (Prickett) Helms.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Patty Carpenter Helms; his stepchildren, Jody and Kim Neel, Connie and Steve Rush and John Allen Neel; step-grandchildren, Steven Rush II, Cameron Rush, Sarah Neel and Joshua Triantifilou; brothers and their spouses, Frank Helms of Fairmont, Richard and Linda Helms of Fairmont; sister, Linda Dean of Fairmont; brothers-in-law and their spouses, Edward Carpenter, Buzzy and Nancy Carpenter, Roger and Jennifer Carpenter, and David and Janet Carpenter; sisters-in-law and spouses, Jeanette Vangilder, Sherrie Heston, Bonnie Lilley, and Roxie and Tom Mayle; and his favorite dogs, Cotton and Lucy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-grandson, Justin Neel; brothers-in-law, Robert Dean, Bud Vangilder, Joseph Heston, Roy Hern and John Heck.
He was employed at Kvarener Power as a machinist. He had worked at Helmicks and he drove coal truck in Preston County for Hollen Trucking. He loved to go to auctions. He was a collector of local history books. He loved to hunt, fish and camp. His favorite place to visit was Amish Country in Ohio. He loved to ride motorcycles.
Friends and family may call from 1-8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Steele officiating. Interment services will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery.
