Peggy's Story

Peggy Maxine Miller, 65, of Fairmont, and formerly of Thornton, passed from this life Friday (May 20, 2016) at the Tygart Center, after a long illness.
She was born in Fairmont, on June 9, 1950, a daughter of Robert E. Tonkery of Fairmont and the late Maxine Ruth Patton Tonkery.
Peggy was a Christian and a member of the Oakwood Road Church of Christ. She was baptized Wednesday (May 18, 2016). She was a graduate of Fairmont State College with a degree in education. She worked as a substitute teacher for special education students for the Marion County Board of Education. She was a member of 4-H, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Mannington Moose Lodge and several bowling leagues in the area.
She was a very kind and loving person with a special affection for animals, including her horses, goats, chickens, ducks and especially her canine buddies, Bullet, Ranger, Jake and Bear. She was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Mountaineers of West Virginia University.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband of 45 years, Noah Cleve Miller Jr.; two brothers, Mark (Nancy) Tonkery of Grafton, and Matthew (Diane) Tonkery of Bridgeport; three sisters, Pamela (Alan) Boylen of Fairmont, Patricia (David) McDougal of Fairmont, and Paula Balon of Bridgeport; nine nieces and nephews, Mark T. (Laura) Tonkery, Karen (Jason) Blakemore, Crystal (Mike) Hickman, Jerry (Jennifer) Herdman, Paul (Amber) McDougal, Kyle McDougal, Stephanie (Matthew) Stadelman, Alec Baylon and Erica Baylon; great-nieces and -nephews, Samantha, Breanna, Emily, Zackery, Rachael, Daniel, Brooke and Alexandrea; also several cousins.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.
Friends may call from 3:30-8 p.m. Monday at the Frey Home For Funerals (Addition Chapel A), 320 Madison St., Fairmont, and from and from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Oakwood Road Church of Christ. Her funeral service will be in the church at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday with Evangelist Brent Gallagher officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery.
