Pauline Virginia Lake, 76, of Fairmont, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 3, 2016.
She was born in Marion County, on Jan. 5, 1940, the youngest daughter of the late Truman E. Phillips and Rosa (Vandergrift) Phillips.
Mrs. Lake, a member of Viola Church, was employed by Johnny's Bakery, Holiday Inn and Warehouse Groceries and as a young lady did housecleaning and babysitting for neighbors in the Hammond Community. She enjoyed camping, traveling and spending time with family.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jack C. Lake, the couple were married on March 7, 1959; four children, Donna Conn and her husband Dwight of Fairmont, Mark Lake and his wife Julie of Fayetteville, Georgia, Michael Lake and his wife Tina of Peachtree City, Georgia, and Connie Perry and her husband Patrick of Fairmont; and "adopted son," Larry Koay and his wife Crystal.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Andrew Conn and his wife Kimberly of Kingwood, Brian Conn of Fairmont, Jennifer Conn of Fairmont, David Lake Jr. of Fairmont, Nick Lake of Morgantown, Matthew Lake and his wife Sarah of Bridgeport, Logan Lake and his wife Rachel of Fayetteville, Georgia, Jack Cory Lake of Pittsburgh, and Austin Lake of Appleton, Wisconsin; 14 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her oldest son, David Lake; her sisters, Edna Cunningham and her husband Ray, Hazel Boyce and her husbands Hi Boyce and Charles Biddle, and Betty Hayes and her husband Paul; her brothers, Robert Phillips and his wife Ethel and William Phillips and his wife Martha.
Family and friends may call from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. today and from noon until 2 p.m. Thursday at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St. Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Scott Krepps officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
