Orlis Josephine Smith, 75, of Metz, died Friday (March 2, 2018), at the Fairmont Regional Medical Center. She was born March 8, 1942, in Fairmont, a daughter of the late Austin Evans Lizzie Stalnaker Evans Smith.
Orlis was a homemaker who enjoyed crossword puzzles, gameshows and collecting. She was always eager to be on the go and to "run the roads."
Survivors include her husband, Simon Earl Smith; a son, Charles (Gladys) Riggs, Metz; a grandson, Brandon Charles Riggs, Metz and his fiancé, Sarah Schwoeble; two brothers, Ernest Mitchell (Jean) Evans, Mannington and Larry Otis (Donna) Evans, Wyatt; brothers-in-law, Gilbert Earl Smith, Jr., Mannington and Gary Ray Smith, Smithfield; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Lou Bowers, Shinnston; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a granddaughter: Michelle Nacole Riggs; five brothers: David Milton, Bernard, Elbert, Delmus, and Dewey Evans; and a sister: Dixie Wright.
The family would like to thank the staff at Fairmont Regional Medical Center ICU for their care and compassion through the years.
Friends may call from 1-9 p.m. Monday at the Hutson Funeral Home, 500 E. Main St., Mannington, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Chad Hutson officiating.
