Norma Jean Toothman Warnick, of Bridgeport, formerly of Grant Town, passed away Monday (July 23, 2018) at her home surrounded by her family. She was born Aug. 10, 1927, a daughter of the late Earnest C. and Hazel Hanson Toothman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Henry Warnick, on May 4, 1989.
A loving mother, grandmother, and great, great-grandmother, Norma "Nanny" loved her family immensely. Her grandchildren meant everything to her in the whole world. Nanny loved country music, baking, raising chickens, sitting on the porch, and watching or attending Pittsburgh Pirates games.
Norma is survived by one son, Earnest N. Warnick and his wife Helen of Fairmont; two daughters, Frances L. Vance and her husband Stanley of Bridgeport; Shelia R. Baker and her husband Benjamin Baker of Pleasant Valley; and a very special niece, Joyce Akers of Shinnston. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Ryan Baker, Craig Baker and fiancé Whitney Ford, Nathan Baker, Brian Harki and wife Jennifer, Shelly Harki Ledsome and husband Jack, Vanessa Vance, Heidi Warnick Simpson and husband Jerrod, Holly Warnick Schmidt and husband Jerrod, and Haley Warnick Johnson and husband Chad. Norma leaves behind 11 great-grandchildren, Ramsey Harki and wife Catie, Aiken Harki, Hayden Harki, Luke Belt, Tyler Belt, Elizabeth and Megan Watson, Brooke Schmidt, Emily Johnson, McKenzie and Logan Simpson, as well as one great-great-grandchild, Kyleigh.
Norma was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, Cora Pava, Annabele Rabish, Frances Mastrino, Margaret Toothman, James Toothman, Martha Ellen Strauch, Mary Louise Cain, and Joseph Toothman.
Norma was Catholic by faith and was a member of Saint Anthony Church in Grant Town.
The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. today at Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 26 at the funeral home with Col. Brian Harki officiating. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
