Nancy Frankman Affeltranger


Mrs. Nancy Frankman Affeltranger, age 77, of Pineville, Louisiana, formerly of Fairmont entered eternal rest on Friday, May 31, 2019, at Rapides Regional Medical Center, in Alexandria, Louisiana. She was born in Fairmont WV on September 12, 1941, the daughter of Leroy and Helen (Teti) Frankman.
Before Nancy's marriage in 1966, past students fondly remember her as Ms. Frankman their Science and Biology teacher at Fairmont Senior High School. She was a past member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, attended Fairmont Catholic School, and was married at St. Peter's. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister. She loved teaching science and had a great passion for Archeology. Nancy was the past President of the Louisiana Archeological Society and was the Central Louisiana Archaeological Chapter President from 1984-2019, 35 years. For many years she ran the Tioga High School Archeology Club introducing youth to the fascinating world of Archeology. She was also the Tioga Indian Mascot for Homecoming Pep Rallies and enjoyed interacting with her students. Nancy also helped to get Poverty Point put on the World Heritage Site and the #75 Tyrone Plantation of Alexandria LA on the National Register of Historic Places. She enjoyed cooking for her friends and family and was especially fond of Italian food. She enjoyed making beaded jewelry and Indian Dream-catchers. Nancy was a faithful and longtime member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Tioga, LA. She will forever be missed by those that loved and knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Helen (Teti) Frankman; and sister, Carol (David) Harris.
Mrs. Nancy Affeltranger is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Charlie Affeltranger; children, Cindy S. Cheramie (Paul) of Jennings, Timothy D. Affeltranger of Pineville, and Tammy L. Beatty (Ron) of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; sister, Patricia McCarty (Doug) of Fairmont, West Virginia; grandchildren, Sarah and Cody Affeltranger of Illinois, aunt's Marie Frankman of Fairmont WV and Ruth Balogh of San Antonio Texas, nephew David Harris
and wife Lenore of Great Falls Montana, several great-nephews, great niece, and many cousins.
A graveside service will be held at Noon on Tuesday June 11, 2019 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery 488 Hampton Rd. with Fr. Joseph Konikattil Officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church 407 Jackson Street Fairmont, WV 26554 or an Animal Rescue of your choice in your local area.
Arrangements are under the care of Ross Funeral Home 801 Fairmont Ave. Fairmont.
