He retired from Clinchfield Coal Company's Martinka Mines in the late 90's. In his earlier years, Morris could charm the crowd on a pair of roller skates. We are very sorry to hear of Morris "MEX" death. He was a very good friend to our family, especially our mother.
He was always there to drive her where ever she wanted to go.

Dear Sam and Virginia ,please accept our sympathy and condolences on the loss of your brother, Morris . There are many memories of what a special person he was.

Remembering Morris or as his parents named him, Marquillo and because a grade schoolteacher could not pronounce it , she renamed him Morris. It was taken from a billboard advertising “Phillip Morris” cigarettes !
Morris related this story to us .

I was so very sorry to learn of Morris death. His mother, father and wife were dear friends. Morris was a special neigborhood friend to me. We shared many happy times. Morris was never at a loss for energy, cuirosity or talent for helping others. I visited with him in September of 2018. He was still sharp as a tack and will always be remembered. God Bless Morris.
