Melissa Anne Willis, 50, of Idamay, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born July 21, 1968 in Steubenville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Dave Feathers Jr. and Beverly Sogan Feathers.
Melissa was a 1986 graduate of Lincoln High School and retired from Harrison County Board of Education as an autism mentor at Big Elm Elementary School. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and loved her pets. She enjoyed camping, the beach and vacationing at Walt Disney World. She was Catholic by faith.
She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years (and caregiver for the past six years): Shawn David Willis; two sons: Bryson and Camdon Willis, both at home; a brother: Michael (Lori) Feathers, Shinnston; her parents-in-law: Dave and Linda Willis, Worthington; a brother-in-law: Kevin (Chrissy) Willis, Idamay; nieces and nephews: Tasha (Cory) Wilcox, Tiffany, Tara and Curtis Feathers, and Kyler Willis; three great-nephews and one great-niece; several aunts, uncles, cousins and an amazing group of long-time friends and their extended families.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her grandparents: Mike and Eileen Sogan and Dave and Elsie Feathers Sr.; and grandparents-in-law: Russell and Virginia Nottingham and Kenneth and Dessel Willis.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice for their care during Melissa's illness.
