Mary Lou Duff Wells, 94, of Fairmont, passed away Friday (Sept. 22, 2017) at Fairmont Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family.
She was born on Feb. 20, 1923 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a daughter of the late Ronald E. ad Mable McElfresh Duff.
Mary Lou worked in the family owned business, Wells Flowers, for more than 50 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved ones.
She is survived by her loving husband of 75 years, Ralph Michael Wells, her children, David and Donna Wells and Debbie and Ronnie Hoy, all of Fairmont. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Renea and Scott Carl of Georgia, David I. Wells of Morgantown and Joshua A. Wells of Fairmont. Also surviving are her great-granddaughters Amanda and Kevin Lites and Roni Lynn Carl of Georgia; and her great-great grandsons, Hunter and Trevor Lites of Georgia. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Martha L (Duff) Czapp of Martins Ferry, Ohio; and her uncle and aunt, George and Edith Parsons of Fairmont, who lovingly opened their home and raised her after her parents' passing.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Fairmont Regional Medical Center for the excellent care she was given, and West Virginia Caring/Hospice.
She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.
In keeping with the wishes of the family, Mary Lou will be cremated and a private burial will be made at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown.
