Mary Ellen's Story

Mary Ellen White, 81, of Norway, passed peacefully from this life in her home under hospice care Saturday (October 15, 2016).
She was born in Fairmont on Aug. 13, 1935, a daughter of the late Marshall O. and Emma Mae Wilson Harding.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary was a Christian by faith. She was a homemaker and still made time to go fishing, work jigsaw and crossword puzzles and read her western books.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Charles Wm. White; seven daughters, Sheila Wix of Fairmont, Etta Bright of Rivesville, Ada Carpenter (Jack) of Rivesville, Erma Watkins (John) of Fairmont, Carolyn Horvath of South Carolina, Lillian Crislip of Fairmont and Billie Jo Valentine of Florida; four sons, Charles Wix of Rivesville, Bernard Wix, Jr, Reese Wix (Berthina) and Robert Valentine, Jr. (Rebecca) of Fairmont; one stepdaughter, Yvonne White of Indiana; 27 grandchildren; 128 great grandchildren; four brothers, Jimmy, William (Edna Mae), Ike and Russell (Judy) Harding; three sisters Marcella Ford, Essie (John) Hovatter and Debbie Carpenter; one brother-in-law, Delbert Corwin; also several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bernard Wix; three brothers, John, Phillip and Joseph Harding; one sister, Roxanne Corwin, two sons-in-law, David Bright and Chris Crislip; one daughter-in-law, Yvonne Wix; also two brothers-in-law, Junior Ford and Charles Carpenter.
Mary's family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to help offset funeral costs: Frey Home For Funerals, P.O. Box 895, Fairmont, WV 26555.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Frey Home For Funerals (Addition Chapel A). Services will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Tuesday with Brother Anthony Frazier Officiating. Interment will follow at the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
