Mary Ann's Story
Mary Ann Merico, 81, of Grant Town, passed away Saturday morning (May 12, 2018) at Tygart Center. She was born Jan. 6, 1937 in Fairmont, daughter of the late Guy and Lois Rutherford Abel.
She previously worked at Westinghouse, Felix & Sons, State Liquor Store and Bells Market. She was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church and a former member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Grant Town and Grant Town Outreach. She enjoyed being with family and friends.
Mary is survived by her three daughters, Toni M. Price and husband George of Grant Town, Tina J. Petry and husband Boyd of Barrackville and Tracy L. Merico and husband James Howard of Hartford. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lisa Price and companion Shawn Summers, Marla Long, Alex Petry, Kaylee, A.J., Brodee and Trayner Howard; and four great-grandchildren, Zoey, Alexis and Hanna Summers and Evan Currey. Also surviving three sisters, Dessie Haught, Linda Bingamon, Janet Rush all of Fairmont and Libby Bentti of Kentucky.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Anthony A. Merico, on March 27, 1996; one brother, Robert Abel; and two sisters, Alberta Abel and Eleanor Allard.
Family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. today at Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with Fr. Joseph Konikattil officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
