Marlyn's Story

Text size

Marlyn Cimino, wife and mother, has gone home to our Lord on Sunday (Feb. 18, 2018) at the age of 81. Marlyn was born Oct. 26, 1935 in Elkins to Jennings Brown and Mildred Louise Hansford.
Marlyn is survived by her daughter, Marlena Booth; sisters, Sue Wolfe and Pat Beary; brother, Dave Hansford; her three granddaughters, Diane Booth Rogers, Shawna McClaflin and Risha Dupre; and five great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Cimino; her son, Michael Booth; and her brother, Rod Hansford.
In the summer of her youth, she was married and had two loving children, Michael and Marlena. During her adult years, she worked hard at different types of jobs and raised her children. Marlyn had a passion for family, dance and photography. In 1980, she met Joseph out on the dance floor that lead to marriage soon after. Her life with Joseph was a full and blessed one with all the parts of life she enjoyed. Marlyn and Joseph would spend many an evening at local events at the Knights of Columbus or other local functions dancing the night away. During the days after retirement, Marlyn was at Joseph's side on the front porch, enjoying the summer and spring evening air as they chatted with family and friends that stopped by to visit.
During the winter and fall months, Marlyn spent her time creating beautiful floral arrangements and working on family albums from the many pictures she took at family events. She carried this tradition from her time with her grandkids into her time with the great-grandkids. She found such joy having all the kids over for sleepovers. Marlyn and Joseph always opened their door to friends and families not just at the holidays, but all year. Sundays were filled with the smell of homemade waffles and spaghetti dinners that they hosted with their family. Grandpa would make the pasta, and Grandma would chat with everyone sharing stories of family and friends, past and present.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at Covenant Baptist Church in Uniontown with Pastor Mark Edwards officiating. Flowers, donations, condolences may be offered at Covenant Baptist Church, 148 Union St, Uniontown, PA 15401.
