Lyle Vance Reese, 80, of Meadowdale, passed away peacefully Monday (June 5, 2017) at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Clarksburg.
He was born in Fairmont, on Oct. 15, 1936, to Herschel and Ruth Davis Reese, but was primarily raised and influenced by his grandparents, Benjamin and Jayna Criss Reese.
Lyle served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Taconic. He retired in 1998 as a machinist from the Westinghouse/North American Philips Plant in Fairmont. Lyle enjoyed reading and loved meeting his friends at the East Side McDonald's for morning coffee.
Lyle leaves behind his wife, Roselean Boyles Reese, of Meadowdale; his son, Charles Benjamin Reese, of Windsor, Virginia; and his daughter Kimberly Sue Reese, of Midlothian, Virginia.. His grandchildren are Zachariah Austin Reese and Kayla Nicole Reese of Windsor, Virginia, Kaison Robert Ball of Morgantown and Kamren Charles Ball of Midlothian, Virginia. Also surviving is his brother-in-law, Dale Boyles of West Union.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Sunday and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont. Funeral services for Lyle will be directly following visitation, at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Rex Musgrove officiating. Lyle will be laid to rest at Woodsdale Memorial Cemetery in Pruntytown. Full military honors will be conducted at graveside by the Marion County Veterans Council Honor Guard.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the VA Hospital doctors and nurses who cared lovingly for Lyle during his final days.
