Lucy's Story

Lucy Lou Satterfield, 76, of Fairmont passed away on Wednesday (Sept. 20, 2017) at her home. She was born in Marion County on May 1, 1941 a daughter of the late Harold Thurman Bissett and Anna Regina Doby Bissett. Lucy is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Daniel Satterfield.
Lucy graduated from East Fairmont High School in 1959. She volunteered as a Candy Striper at Fairmont General Hospital out of High School. She retired from Westinghouse/ North American Philips. Lucy was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Satterfield was a faithful member of the Highland Avenue United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed reading, doing crafts, including crocheting and making wreathes. She was active with the Westinghouse retirees group.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, April Lynn Cooper of Martinsburg and her fiancé, Elwood Sord; two grandchildren, Kyle Grogg and Faith Ann Cooper.
Also surviving are her brothers and their spouses, Ronald Enoch and Ella Sue Bissett of Fairmont, Robert Lee and Cindy Bissett of Dailey, Kent Alan and Jackie Bissett of Morgantown; her sisters and their spouses, Dolores Jane and Kenneth Ray Martin of Morgantown and Barbara Ann Hayes and Oliver Mason Hayes II of Fairmont; sisters-in-law, Linda Donnell, Jean Anderson and her husband Eugene and brothers-in-law, Tom Satterfield and his wife Jeanette and Glen Satterfield; special friends, Nancy and Tom Darden and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Orval and Opal Satterfield; a sister, Betty Lorraine in infancy and a brother-in-law, Floyd Donell and William Satterfield.
Family and friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Micah Blank officiating. Interment will follow at Mannington Memorial Park.
