Alice Loretta Boyce, 97, of Fairmont, passed away Wednesday (Nov. 29, 2017).
Loretta was born in Masontown, on March 6, 1920, the daughter of the late Calvin and Virginia (Smith) Rohr. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, Don Boyce.
Loretta retired from Westinghouse Lamp Plant in Fairmont, with more than 35 years of service. She enjoyed fishing in her younger years, as well as the arts, and she loved entertaining. She was a former Ms. West Virginia Senior America and held a small role in the movie "My Girl" in 1991. Loretta was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many.
Loretta is survived by her son, Marvin Linn and wife Sylvia of Conyers, Georgia; a stepdaughter, Marie Starcher, and stepdaughter-in-law, Ellen Ryan, both of Fairmont; her grandchildren, Tanya Robe and husband Ray, with whom she resided in Fairmont, Keith Griffith and wife Ashley of Zebulon, Georgia, Kelly Starcher of Fairmont, and Jeff Richards and wife Rhonda of Monongah; great-grandchildren, Brandi Hankins, Sheena Yow, Steven Robe, Taylor Robe, Zachariah Robe, Courtney Powell, Erik Starcher and wife Allison and Zach Richards, all of Fairmont, and Madison Robertson of Zebulon, Georgia; 10 great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Loretta was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy; four sisters, Floy Everly, Flossie White, Margaret Shaffer and Estelle Blackburn; one brother, Paul Anderson; two stepsons, Bob Ryan and Eugene Ryan; one stepson-in-law, Fred Starcher; and one great-granddaughter, Whitney Powell.
The family would like to thank the staff at Amedisys Hospice as well as several special caregivers, LeeAnn Tonkery-West, Debbie Grubb, Toni Balenger, Taylor Robe and Zachariah Robe for providing exceptional loving care to Loretta over the last 10 months.
Friends and family may call from 4-8 p.m. today and 10-11 a.m. Friday at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Evangelist Kevin Lough officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery.
