Lois Jean (Bunner) Hawley, 85, of Smithtown Community, passed away on Saturday (April 8, 2017) with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Fairmont, on Sept. 7, 1931, a daughter of the late Randolph Bunner and Gladene (Kinkaid) Bunner.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James R. Hawley Sr.
Lois was raised and lived most of her life in the Smithtown Community. She loved family and grew up in the big brick house in Smithtown with her mom, dad, siblings, aunt, uncle and cousins and had many stories about their adventures.
During this time, she worked in the Bunner Dairy in Smithtown and Bunner Brothers Grocery in Fairmont. She was active in the Homemakers Association and instrumental in the founding of the Smithtown Community Association.
She was a homemaker, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, lovingly known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as Nunny.
Mrs. Hawley is survived by her son, James R. Hawley Jr. and his wife Kimberly of Smithtown; her daughter, Stephanie Estlack and her husband Marcus of Smithtown; her grandchildren, Thomas "T. J." Estlack, Holly Achee and her husband Craig, Erica Hawley, Travis Hawley and Presley Hawley; and her great-grandchildren, Taylor Estlack, Eli Estlack, Jillian Achee, Parker Achee and Charley Hawley.
Also surviving are her sisters, Ernestine Jennings of Pennsylvania and Judith Williams and her husband Ronald of Smithtown, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Bunner; two sisters, Sara (Bunner) Adams and Carol (Bunner) Smith; and two brothers-in-law, Martin Jennings and Oce Smith.

Friends and family may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday and from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Minister Matt Lowe officiating. Interment will follow at the Pisgah Cemetery in Monongalia County.
