Linda Louisa Clayton, 70, of Fairmont, passed from this life Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at Ruby Memorial Hospital from complications with severe COPD.
She was born in Fairmont on June 25, 1947, the only child of the late Homer and Mary Manley Dietz.
Linda was Methodist by faith. She was a 1965 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School. She retired as an assembly worker from Ruskin Manufacturing. She was a former member of the Women of the Moose and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
She enjoyed bowling, gardening, playing video games and Facebook, and especially enjoying nature at Jim's country home.
Ms. Clayton is survived by her children, Sabrina (David) Workman of Grant Town and Jeremy (Beth) Clayton of Fairmont; her grandchildren, Tiffany and Devony Workman; her feline fur babies, Charles, Anthony and Shyshy; her proclaimed adopted daughters and very close friends, Tina Bland and Charlene Buchanan; Charlene's children, Becky and Patrick; also her companion of eight years, Jim Melton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. "Butch" Clayton on July 20, 2007. Sometime after Butch crossed over she decided to let her hair grow and her family has decided to donate it to the "Locks of Love" program.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Frey Home For Funerals (Addition Chapel A), 320 Madison St. Services will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Kriss Cecil-Crihfield officiating. Her desire for final disposition was cremation.
