Leona June Marlink Hayes, 85, of Farmington, Sunny View Acres community, died Tuesday (Nov. 7, 2017) at the Tygart Center in Fairmont, where she had been a resident for several years.
She was born June 4, 1932 in Zeeland, Michigan, a daughter of the late Harry and Dora DeWeerd Marlink.
She was employed with Family Services in Fairmont in the Senior Aid Program. She loved to play bingo, work puzzles and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her son, Jeff (Susan) Hayes, of Farmington; two grandchildren, Michael (Miranda) Hayes, Frankford, Delaware, Kelly (Eric) Ferrell, Farmington; five grandchildren, Alan and Brett Bachhofer, Dillon Cartwright, Ella and Jayden Hayes; and a great-granddaughter, Alexandria Bachhofer.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Oliver Hayes; two sisters, Harriet McAnally, Johanna Ambrosiewicz; two infant sisters; three brothers, Erwin, Dick and Roger Marlink; and her longtime roommate and dear friend, Mildred "Mae" Kinty.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery with Evangelist Craig Matheny officiating.
