Lawrence "Larry" Ronald Stickles, 86, of Fairmont, passed away Saturday (Nov. 18, 2017). Lawrence was born in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 1, 1931, a son of Lawrence William Stickles and Monica Minerva (Liston) Stickles. He was one of five children.
Following Catholic High School graduation, Lawrence enlisted in the Air Force, where he served as a corporal in Bermuda from 1948 to 1952 during the Korean War. Upon discharge, he moved to Fairmont and married his sweetheart, Marjorie. He began working at Owens-Illinois Glass Company in Fairmont, and then Libby-Owens in Toledo, Ohio, where he retired after 37 years of service. He also belonged to the Moose Lodge No. 9.
Lawrence spent several years as a professional photographer taking weddings. He especially loved his flowers, and enjoyed taking pictures of his gardens. He was a hard-working, loving, caring husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marjorie Stickles (Hawkinberry); son Mark Stickles; daughters Joyce Stickles of Tennessee, and Laura Chickerell (Ike); a brother, James Stickles; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Stickles; four grandsons, Jason (Kelly), Ryan (Vanessa), Isaac (Trudi), and Colin; as well as six great-grandchildren.
Friends and family may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
