Kenneth's Story

Kenneth Glen Cottrell, 76, of Grafton, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Aug. 16, 2017.
He was born Oct. 23, 1940, at Withers, Gilmer County, West Virginia, the son of Sherman Cottrell and Eula Vanhorn Cottrell.
Kenneth graduated from Fairview High School in Fairview. He worked at Westinghouse/Philips in Fairmont, where he retired in 1998 with 40 years of service. During that time, he was drafted into the Army in 1966 for two years and spent 19 months in Germany.
He enjoyed camping and bowling for many years, and he also liked playing cards and dominoes with friends. He also played guitar in his brother-in-law's band in New Martinsville. He was a Shriner and a Shiner clown for a few years.
He was baptized in the Pumpkin Center Church of Christ in 1958 by Charles Burns from Texas, where he was an active member as he grew up. In 1998, he was restored in the White Hall Church of Christ by Elder Stan Jenkins and remained an active member until his death.
He is survived by his wife Cathy (Egress) (Duda) Cottrell, whom he married on Feb. 4, 2012.
He is also survived by a sister, Betty (Cottrell) (Snyder) Roberts on Robinson's Run; two brothers, Stanley Cottrell of Robinson's Run and Leo Cottrell of Bunner Ridge; four sisters-in-law, Lena Morris of New Martinsville, Doretta Morris of Pine Grove, Carolyn (Tolly) Cottrell of Robinson's Run and Nancy Cottrell of Bunner Ridge. Many cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
Also surviving, sister-in-law, Beverly Pasquariello of Virginia; brother-in-law, Frank Egress of Rachel; stepson, Joseph (Nancy) Duda of Kuhn's Run; stepdaughter, Bridget (Jason) Vessecchia of Fairmont; and two grandsons, Logan and Caden Vessecchia of Fairmont.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Barbara Morris Cottrell; a sister-in-law, Ilene Cottrell; and brothers-in-laws, Marvin Snyder, Edgar Blaine Morris, Steven L. Morris and Frank Roberts.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont. The funeral service will be held at noon Monday in the White Hall Church of Christ with Evangelist Kevin Lough officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton with the Taylor County Color Guard Unit conducting full military honors.
