Kay Frances Poundstone, 80, of Fairmont, a devoted wife and mother, passed away quietly at home on Dec. 14, 2017, after an extended illness.
She was born in Worthington, on Aug. 13, 1937, daughter of the Francis O. "Mike" Monroe and Ruby McNece Kotarba.
She dedicated her life to her family. Kay was employed at Owen-Illinois for many years in Fairmont. She was Baptist by faith. She grew up in Farmington, later moving to Toledo, Ohio, with her late husband of 39 years, married on Sept. 22, 1955, Donald Hite Poundstone.
She remained a widow the rest of her life. Kay then decided to return to West Virginia to be close to her grandchildren upon her husband's passing.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her oldest son, Donald "James" Poundstone; and two sisters, Adele Metz and Shirley Browning.
Surviving are her son, Dennis Ray Poundstone of Fairmont; her grandson, Dennis Poundstone of Toledo, Ohio; her granddaughters, children of the late Donald James Poundstone, Tabitha and Tanya Poundstone of Virginia. Also survived by one sister, Mildred Humphrey-Matlick of Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews, such as Shirley Browning's children, Mike Gomez, Kevin Gomez, Pam Reagen and Kim Walls; Adele Metz's children, Micheal Haddix, William Haddix, Albert Metz, Paula Haddix-Eddy and Crystal Majchrowski; and Mildred Humphrey-Matlick's children, Richard Lee Richardson, Randy Lane Richardson, Dawn Andrea Richardson and Margaret Kolar.
A committal service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Grandview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Entombment will follow.
