Katherine Louise Hanning, 83, of Boothsville, passed suddenly from this life in her home Sunday (Feb. 4, 2018). She was born in Marion County on June 3, 1934, a daughter of the late James and Opal S. Swiger Garrison.
A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Katherine was a homemaker and farmer all of her adult life. She was an active member of the Boothsville Baptist Church. She was a former member of the Eldora Homemakers, enjoyed flower gardening and playing cards, especially rummy.
Mrs. Hanning is survived by her three children, Robert Wayne (Sandra) Hanning, Donald (Mary Ann) Hanning and Tina Mae (Michael) Upperman, all of Boothsville; two brothers, John (Shirley) Garrison of Tampa, Florida, and Bert (Gloria) Garrison of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Jessica Kitchens, Vincent, Madonna, Mark and Jennifer Hanning; five great-grandchildren, Isabella, Adrianna, James, Veronica and Francesca; several nieces and nephews and her canine companion, Leo.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Robert Merrill Hanning, on Sept. 19, 1993; four brothers, Thurman, James, Charles and Frank Garrison; and three sisters, Patricia Day, Adriane Rafail and Carol Lanier.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today, noon-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m.-noon Friday at the Frey Home For Funerals (Addition Chapel A), 320 Madison St., Fairmont.
Services will be held at noon Thursday with the Revs. Orville Wright and Jonathan Kitchens officiating. Interment will follow at the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
