John Robert "Bob" Reed II, 77, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Oct. 30, 2017 at Norton Audubon Hospital.
Bob was a native of West Virginia, a funeral director and an owner of Bosse Funeral Home, a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served as a corpsman attached to the U.S. Marine Corps, a Fourth Degree member of the Bishop Spalding Council of the Knights of Columbus, and a board member and an owner of the Allegheny Hunting Club in Mount Strom. He was president of The Liar's Club Checks Café and immortalized with his picture included in the mural above the bar.
He leaved behind a legacy of love, kindness, service and a unique ability to develop a special relationship with many people.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Robert and Agnes Virginia Reed, Rebecca Reed, and a great-grandson, Anthony Blake.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, the former Lynda Boehnlein; three children, Bobby (Niki), Tony (Carol) and Donna Lynn (Mike), eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Earl (Debbie); a sister, Janet Curry; and his perennial sidekick and best friend, Bella.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Mother of Sorrows, 747 Harrison Ave. at Eastern Parkway with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon-8 p.m. Friday at Bosse Funeral Home, 1355 Ellison at Barret Avenue.
