John Robert "Bob" Brown, 63, of Harmony Grove, Grafton, passed away Friday morning (Jan. 19, 2018), peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family who provided around the clock care to keep Bob comfortable.
He was born in Clarksburg on Nov. 27, 1954, a son of the late Elmer George Brown and Nellie Rosalie Squires Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Sue (Dowdy) Brown, whom he married May 6, 2005.
Also surviving are his daughter, Lindsay Zirkle and her husband Jeff of Buckhannon; his son, Chris Brown and his wife Amanda of Salem; and three grandchildren, Addison and Rease Zirkle, and Henry Brown. A sister, JoLynn Fahey and her husband Matt of McDonald, Pennsylvania; two brothers, David Brown of Clarksburg and Richard "Elmo" Brown of Newville, Pennsylvania; and several beloved nieces and nephews complete his family.
Bob graduated from Salem High School in 1973 and served in the United States Air Force from 1973-1977. He also attended Fairmont State for two years. He was employed at First Energy's Harrison Power Station as an electrician and electrical supervisor from 1978-2012, retiring due to his illness after 34 years of service.
When he was younger, he was an avid bicyclist. He loved the home that he and his wife built in Harmony Grove community in 2006. He loved West Virginia University football and basketball and loved to travel. He and his wife were frequent visitors to auctions in Amish Country in Ohio.
But most of all, he was so proud of his family.
