Jerry Ray Bolton, 80, of Fairmont, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday (Oct. 24, 2017).
He was born in Barbour on April 9, 1937, a son of the late Merton T. Bolton and Frances Smith Bolton.
Jerry worked for Sears and Roebuck for 35 years as an automotive manager, and was a longtime member of the Fairmont Elks Lodge No. 294. He enjoyed playing poker with his friends, and was an avid golfer and bowler. Jerry's favorite saying was that "work is for people that can't golf".
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara (Burner) Bolton of Fairmont; a son, John Bolton and fiancée Tracy of Philippi; two daughters, Kimberly Altobelli of Fairmont and Kelly Tennant and husband Scott of North Carolina; and a sister, Linda Corley and husband Ron of Philippi.
He is also survived by six grandchildren, Brian Altobelli, Nikki (Bolton) England, Jamie Bolton, April (Tennant) Hamilton, Ally Tennant and Brayden Cole; four great-grandchildren, Auri, Layne, Talon and Kayleigh; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jo Burner, as well as by a grandson, Nicholas Altobelli.
Honoring his wishes, all services will be kept private. Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
