Jean Ann Bruce

May 17, 1927 - September 11, 2018

Jean Ann Hall Bruce, of Fairmont, passed away (Sept. 11, 2018) surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 17, 1927 to the late Edith Robey Hall and Carlin Lawrence Hall. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Jack L. Bruce of Fairmont.
Jean Ann was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was affectionally known as Nee Nee by her family. She and her husband, Jack, met when they were 15 years old and became high school sweethearts while at Mannington High School. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Jean Ann and Jack were the consummate "good neighbors" wherever they lived. Her legacy as a caregiver to her beloved mother, Dee Dee, extended until Dee Dee's death at the age of 106. Dee Dee resided with Jack and Jean Ann for over 40 years. Jean Ann was a longtime Methodist and a recent member of Bridgeport United Methodist Church as well as a 40-year member of P.EO. Chapters D (past president) and R in Fairmont. She was a past member of the Mount Vernon Garden Club, Book Chat Club and an avid bridge player.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Becky Mattern (Ted) of Morgantown, Jan Ellen Brown of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Amy (Jeff) Carpenter of Fairmont, and her brother, Carlin Lawrence Hall, of Fernandina Beach, Florida. Jean Ann is also survived by her grandchildren, Patrick Weaver (Chanda) of Morgantown, William V. Weaver (Meredith) of Morgantown, Jay Carpenter (Anna) of Pittsburgh, Jenny Potter (Jesse) of Youngstown, Ohio, Kerry Carpenter of Fairmont, Kelly Jean Morgan (Mark) of Charlotte, and Erin Brown of New York City, and her great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Thorn Weaver, Kyle Patrick Weaver and Michael Bruce Weaver of Morgantown.
The family extends its thanks to Dr. Peter Ang and his staff as well as Cora Fazio and her staff for the compassion and concern received at Fazio's Elder Care in Monongah. The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4550 Montgomery Ave., Suite 1100 N, Bethesda, MD 20814 or, or to the P.E.O. Chapter R, in care of Debbie Williams, Treasurer, 20 Limerick Lane, Fairmont, WV 26554.
Friends and family may visit from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14 at the R.C. Jones Funeral Home, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont. The memorial service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15 with the Rev. Dr. Ken A. Ramsey officiating. A private family committal service will be held at a later date. Jack and Jean Ann were like another set of parents to us when we resided across the street from each other on Coleman Ave. in Fairmont. We love them both and will never forget how loving and gracious they always were to us! God bless the rest of Jean Ann’s family and know our hearts are full of compassion and sympathy to the rest of her family! We love you Jack Bruce
