James Franklin Yost passed away on Aug. 25, 2017 at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown, surrounded by his family.
He was born on Jan. 17, 1941, in Mannington, the son of Robert Merle Yost and Ruth Shaver Yost. Jim graduated from Mannington High School in 1960. Jim served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Madrid, Spain.
He married the love of his life, Joyce Lynn Rexrode Yost, on Aug. 12, 1967, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 12 of this year.
He spent his career designing and engineering computer control systems for coal mine preparation plants and served as the president of West Virginia Electric Corp. in Fairmont, for the last 12 years of his career.
During his retirement, he and his wife divided their time between St. Augustine, Florida, and the Cheat Lake area of Morgantown. He enjoyed sports cars, bicycling and walking on the beach but above all loved to spend time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha Ann and Henry Bell, Mary Louise and Keith Ashcraft; and his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Marge Yost; and his brother, Robert Yost.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Lynn Yost, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage on Aug. 12; his daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Jim Ross of Morgantown; his son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Trina Yost of Morgantown; six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, Ethan and Gabriella Gonzales, Kolby, Abigail, Alaina and Isabelle Yost, and Jonathan and Elisabeth Ross. He is also survived by his sister, Sara Ammons of Morgantown, and his sister-in-law, Shirley Yost of Winchester, Virginia. He was especially close to his Uncle Dave Shaver, who is deceased, and to his Aunt June Shaver, who resides in Mannington.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at 1 p.m. Monday at a graveside service at Mannington Memorial Park.
