Ivan Ray Freeland, 69, of Fairmont, passed away Friday (Oct. 20, 2017).
He was born Oct. 22, 1947, in Farmington, son of the late William and Jeannetta Crislip Freeland.
He was employed by S.M. Kisner Roofing and Sutter Roofing as a roofer and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. Ivan was the president of the Vietnam Veterans Local 874 and secretary of the West Virginia Vietnam Veterans State Council.
Ivan is survived by his wife, Nadine Freeland; three children, Ivan Richard Freeland and wife Beverly, Crystal Dawn Freeland-Critchfield, and William Shawn Freeland and wife Lovely, all of Fairmont; two brothers, James Russell Freeland and Richard Arlie Freeland, both of Fairmont; five sisters, Roberta "Cissie" Bezares and ex-husband Cecilia "B.B." of Fairmont, Vera Lee Reese of Boothsville, Pamela Sue Freeland of Fairmont, Cheryl Ann Scritchfield and husband Douglas of Monongah, and Terry Lynn Richards and husband Robert of Monongah; eight grandchildren, Richard Freeland and wife Trish, Jonathan Freeland, Ava Freeland, Abagail Freeland, Jo Nel Boyce, Kirk Mines II, Shawn Freeland and Heyden Freeland; and three great-grandchildren, Chase Keener, Graeyce Freeland and Jayden Woodfolk.
In addition to his parents, Ivan is preceded in death by a brother, Willy Freeland.
The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Monday and from 11 a.m.-noon Tuesday at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave., Fairmont. The funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday at the funeral home. Full military honors will be conducted by the Taylor County Color Guard Unit following the funeral service at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton.
