Hazel Rushton, 95, of Fairmont, formerly of the Colfax Community, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, at Tygart Center at Fairmont following a long illness. She was born in Calhoun County on Nov. 3, 1922, the youngest of nine children born to the late William H. Wilson and Sarah Anna (Boice) Wilson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Albert "Tom" Andrew Rushton, in April of 2002.
Hazel was a devoted wife and mother, and enjoyed reading and crocheting. She worked at G.C. Murphy's Store, and then in the lamp plant of Westinghouse Electric in Fairmont. Hazel was a member of the Colfax United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Sarah White, of Monroeville, Pennsylvania; a grandson, Troy Stevens; three great-grandchildren, Bradley Stevens, Donte Stevens and Trelynn Stevens; a sister-in-law, Sophia Jane Shaffer, of Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews, including, Betsy May, of Fairmont, Barbara Russell and her husband Billy, of Fairmont, and David Morrison and his wife Sharon, of Berkley Springs.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Annabelle Morrison, Charles "Gus" Wilson, Glenna Satterfield, Maude Saurborn, Ruben Wilson, Clancy Wilson, Milt Wilson and Floyd Wilson.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 at Grandview Memorial Gardens with Pastor Jim Zinn officiating.
