Harriet Sophia Savereno left us unexpectedly Wednesday (Aug. 3, 2017) at Fazio's Eldercare in Monongah, where she made her home for the last two years.
Born near Elizabeth, she was the youngest child of Henry Isaac "Ike" and Minnie Mae Harnish Shears.
Upon graduation from Wirt County High in 1942, she came to Fairmont to work at the Westinghouse Tube Plant and later Sears, retiring from Electronic Control Systems in 1989 after 23 years.
She had been a member of the Monongah First United Methodist Church since 1955. Visiting with friends, bowling and singing with the Marion County Senior Chorus were some of the things she enjoyed.
Her children are Linda Moorehead of Carolina, Mark and Cathy Savereno of State College, Pennsylvania, and T.J. and Lynette Savereno of Timmonsville, South Carolina. Grandchildren are Erin and Jeff Garrison; and great-grandchildren are Kara and Walker, Brice and Julie Moorehead, and great-grandchildren Elise and Roman, Nick and Stephanie Savereno and great-grandchildren Alessandra and Marco, Matt Savereno, Drew Savereno, Hannah Savereno and Isaac Savereno.
She was preceded in death in 1996 by her husband, Tony Savereno, whom she married in 1947. The last of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by her siblings Sterling Shears, Mary Hibbitts, Hunter Shears, Warren Shears, Dale Shears and Kathryn Foutty.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Marion County Humane Society, P.O. Box 905, Fairmont, WV 26554. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Fazio's Elder Care and the Hospice nurses.
Visitation will be on from 2-8 p.m. Sunday and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave, Fairmont, WV. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday the funeral home with Rev. Jeremiah Jasper officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
