George "Juke" Menas, Jr., 89, of Farmington, died Tuesday (Jan. 30, 2018) at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was born July 13, 1928 in Farmington, a son of the late George Menas Sr. and Mary Yonkovich Menas.
George retired from the B&O Railroad, later Chessie System, in Fairmont where he worked as a yardmaster. He was a 1947 graduate of Farmington High School and a longtime and faithful member of the Main St. United Methodist Church in Farmington. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and traveling. Most of all, he enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Patricia Lee Sapp Menas, whom he married Oct. 4, 1952; two daughters, Georg`anne (Michael) Poster and Cindy (Jim) Mays, all of Farmington; 13 grandchildren, Christy (Smoke) Conaway, Tiffany Menas, Erik (Amanda) Poster, Chelsea (Larry) Haymond, George Ryan (Cassie) Poster, Payge (Zac) Shuck, Shelby (Matt) Pierce, Drew (Megan) Mays, Logan (fiancé Alexis) Mays, Mikala, Brett and Ethan Mays and Ashley Graham; 18 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Harry Michael Menas; four brothers, Pete, Mickey, Matt and Steve Menas; and five sisters, Frances and Elizabeth Menas, Dora Borowski, Rose Petro and Anna Kolish.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today and from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Main St. United Methodist Church in Farmington with Revs. Scott Pacifico, David Pacifico, David Markley and Steve Baker officiating.
