Genevieve Bertha Stetz Kovarbasich, 96, of Fairmont, died Friday (Oct. 6, 2017) in the Genesis Healthcare Pierpont Center in Fairmont.
She was born July 8, 1921, in Keyster, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Alex Stetz and Mary Agnes Jurus Stetz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Michael Kovarbasich, in 1992.
She is survived by her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Charlene and Alan Hawkins of Barboursville, Beverly and Thomas Vogel of Fairmont, and Arlene Kovarbasich of Fairmont, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Kovarbasich was preceded in death by three brothers, John Stetz, Louis Stetz and Walter Stetz, and two sisters, Ida Stetz and Helen Hedio.
Genevieve was a homemaker and member of the St. Peter The Fisherman Catholic Church in Fairmont. She was a 1940 graduate of Farmington High School and enjoyed arts and crafts, crocheting and knitting. Mrs. Kovarbasich was also a gifted seamstress and liked puzzle books.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Genesis Healthcare Pierpont Center for their loving care.

The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Monday at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont. The Catholic vigil service will be held Monday evening in the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, in the St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 407 Jackson St., Fairmont, with Father Shaji Thomas as celebrant. The committal service will follow in the Mount Carmel Cemetery in Fairmont.
